New York

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill authorizing sports betting in the state on April 19, 2021. On January 8, 2022 New York launched online sports betting. There are currently nine operators that are licensed to offer sports betting in the state, including FanDuel, Caesars, BetRivers, and more.

During the first year of online sports betting, New York generated over $16.2 billion in handle. This was way more than any other state, and resulted in over $500 million in tax revenue.

The New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC) implemented a strong regulatory framework for online sports betting to help ensure that the industry is fair and safe for consumers. They help to create a level playing field for all operators. This competitive market has driven down prices and improved customer service making New York one of the leading states for online sports betting in the country.

With a large population of sports fans, a competitive online sports betting market, and a well-regulated gaming industry, online sports betting has been a success for the state.

You must be 21 or older in the state of New York in order to participate in sports betting.
