Governor Eric Holcomb signed a bill into law that legalized sports betting in the state on May 8, 2019. The first online sportsbook in Indiana launched the following October 1, with BetMGM and FanDuel. Four more sportsbooks launched in the state by the end of the year.

As of May 2023, there are a total of 10 online sportsbooks currently operating in Indiana. These sportsbooks include PointsBet, DraftKings, WynnBET, Caesars and more.

The online sports betting industry in Indiana has been very successful since its launch. In 2021, the state’s online sportsbooks generated $4.1 billion in revenue, the fifth highest in the United States. In the first five months of 2022, they generated more than $2.5 billion in revenue.

The state’s large population, its proximity to major sports markets, and its competitive tax market aid in the success of their online sports betting industry.

In the state of Indiana the legal online sports betting age is 21 years old.
